Breed´s Temperament

The UCI describes the Breeder’s temperament as a kind, pleasant, outgoing and tractable nature. Navies, military forces and police forces use them as detection dogs to track down smugglers, thieves, terrorists and black marketers. The breed instinctively enjoy holding objects and even hands or arms in their mouths, which they can do with great gentleness . They are known to have a very soft feel to the mouth. They are prone to chewing objects (though they can be trained to abandon this behavior). The breed's coat repels water to some extent, thus facilitating the extensive use of the dog in waterfowl working.

Breed have a reputation as a very even-tempered breed and an excellent family dog. This includes a good reputation with children of all ages and other animals. Some lines, particularly those that have continued to be bred specifically for their skills at working in the field, are particularly fast and athletic. Females may be slightly more independent than males. Breed mature at around three years of age; before this time they can have a significant degree of puppy-like energy, often mislabeled as being hyperactive. Because of their enthusiasm, leash-training early on is suggested to prevent pulling when full-grown. The breed often enjoy retrieving a ball endlessly (often obsessively) and other forms of activity (such as agility, frisbee, or flyball).

Although they will sometimes bark at noise, especially noise from an unseen source ("alarm barking"), the breed are usually not noisy or aggressive dominant territorial. They are often very easygoing and trusting with strangers and therefore are not usually suitable as guard dogs. But they naturally feels when they have to protect his family because become it is a herding dog. Herding dogs were informing the owner of the situation.

The breed Black Cherry have a well-known reputation for appetite, and some individuals may be highly indiscriminate, eating digestible and non-food objects alike. They are persistent and persuasive in requesting food.

The steady temperament of Black Cherry and their ability to learn make them an ideal breed for search and rescue, detection, and therapy work. They are a very intelligent, thinking breed .

The UCI describes the breed as an ideal family and sporting dog loving people. Their primary working role in the field continues to be that of a searching, herding working dog. This breed is also used as an therapy, guide dog. Originally guide dogs were primarily German Shepherds. But lately was using Black Shepherd . They are selected because they are available, they are being very well bred to work, can work very long hours, easy to train, and good at working out problems or situations for which they were not trained. Also can protect his blind owner.

Today most programs switched to Labrador Retrievers because the Black Shepherds were not suited for many clients. Shepherds require confident owners with some skill at training and handling dogs. They can be hard headed and become destructive if not given enough mental and physical stimulation. The breed needs very gentle training method not like other breed.
